Hello Students and Everyone,
I have just read a very interesting article in the National Security section of The Washington Post titled, "Legal memos released on Bush-era justification for warrentless wiretapping," by journalist Ellen Nakashima. Click at the "h" for http:" on the following url to read it at:
The article is interesting because it's about wiretapping that continues today as well by our present government. So, I've decided to offer this article as your first "extra plus point" project.
Please follow the Essay format of instructions below. A possible 5.00 points can be earned if followed correctly and handed in on time on the due date of next Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the beginning of class.
Essay format of Instructions:
1. Write a three page essay as follows: three-full pages, typed, 1 inch margins left/right/upper/lower; doublespacing, 23-25 lines per each page, with 12 font at the most.
On page one: at upper right or lefthand corner only your name and essay title.
2. On the first two pages, tell me the name of the article, its author, and what is the information presented in this article, why are we now finding out about these national security memos, and why is this information so important for the public to know about, especially relevant to U.S. Presidential powers as the Chief Executive of foreign policy matters. Don't tell me yet what your opinion of this article and information is until page 3.
3. On page three of your essay, tell me what you think of this information and powers our President and government have, and do you agree or disagree with warrentless wiretapping?
Remember, this paper is due next Wednesday, September 10, 2014 at the beginning of class.
Good luck.
